1. Compost 堆肥

Compost is organic matter (plant and animal residues) which has been rotted down by the action of bacteria and other organisms, over a period of time. Materials such as leaves, fruit skins and animal manures can be used to make compost. It can help to improve the structure of the soil by allows more air into the soil, improves drainage, reduces erosion, improves ability to hold water and nutrient etc.

The main ingredient for our compost is grass, cow dung and any left over in the farm, with some rice husk charcoal, enzyme and rock mineral. Put all main ingredient layer by layer to become a heap around 3 feet height, and let them ferment for at least 3 months.

2. Green Manure 绿肥

Green manures are plants which are grown to improve soil structure, organic matter content and nutrient content, through nitrogen fixation from the atmosphere. Green manures are usually dug into the soil when the plants are still young, before they produce any crop and often before they flower. They are grown for their green leafy material which is high in nutrients and provides soil cover. Most of the legume is nitrogen fixer that can use as green manure, namely mungbean, long bean, peanut etc.

3. Carbonized rice husk/rice husk charcoal 烧谷壳

Carbonized rice husk/rice husk charcoal is used as a source of soil minerals like phosphate, potash and calcium. Besides, organic carbon will serve as microbes habitat and help to maintain moisture level of the soil.

4. Enzyme 酵素

Enzyme is made from many raw materials such as green plants (vegetable/weed, young banana trunk), fresh fishes, cow dung/urine etc. The materials are soaked with water in a big drum for fermentation. The liquid is used to spray on crops with recommended dilution and they serve as growth promoter in the meantime as pest repellent.

5. Fish Amino Acid (FAA) 鱼肥

Fish Amino Acid (FAA) is a liquid made from fish waste. FAA is of great value to both plants and microorganisms in their growth, because it contains abundant amount of nutrients and various types of amino acids. Amino acids are nitrogen (N) part of the five elements of fertilizer. It may have stinky smell if the fermentation is not proper.

6. Rock Mineral 矿石

Rock mineral is a natural form of mineral, usually from rock mining. This rock mineral help to provide micro nutrient to the plant, eg: Calcium, Magnesium, Phosphate etc.  Limestone is a good source of calcium and it help to reduce the PH of the soil.
